Tips for Advertising a Fund Raiser Event

Advertising a fundraiser is a large task, but it can be accomplished successfully if you are deliberate. Since there are many avenues to take when advertising, it can be difficult to know which ones are right for your event: flyers and posters make great advertisements, but mailers and phone calls are also effective. Here are some great tips for advertising your fund raiser that will help you to know what methods of advertising are right for you.

#1 Use community news sources.
Newspaper ads are a great way to spread the news of your event. Online and printed community calendars are usually free and also reach many people. A press release will reach your greatest audience. In each instance, have a simple and informative message ready. Don’t forget the details or the reason that others should support your fund raiser.

#2 Hang up posters and hand out flyers.
Printed advertisements, such as a flyer or poster printing pieces, play a huge part in promoting a fund raiser. Make sure to pass them out well in advance. The soon you get them out, the more coverage you will get.

#3 Spread the work for free via mouth to mouth and blog to blog.
Use technological advances to promote your event. A printed poster is great, but online posters can also be great so use both methods. Post your ad on blogs and web pages. Send out e-mails and encourage forwarding. For those who do not have computers, make a few calls. Remind your friends to tell their friends. You can also make announcements in churches and school. The good old grapevine still works.

#4 Use volunteers as walking advertisements.
Print fund raiser t-shirts and printed boards. Have volunteers walk around and share the news. Increase exposures by selling t-shirts in advance of the fundraiser.

#5 Ask for donations.
Although the cost is low for many ads, you can save money by asking newspapers to run an ad as a donation to your cause. Ask a printing place if they are running any discounts for a print poster or flyer order. Go door to door in your community to find out which businesses will want to donate or pledge money for marketing costs.

Whatever avenues you choose, spread out the work. Workers, volunteers, or parents will likely be willing to help if you ask them. Your time and money will go much further if you enlist help from others. And don’t forget that the more forms of advertising you use, the better coverage you will get and the more successful the turnout for your event will be.
