The best way to draw the attention of your intended readers is to thrill your audience with fabulous graphics and smart design, whether for poster printing, billboard design, or signs and banners. Countless posters that overwhelm walls and billboards are too numerous to count, but do not let this fact discourage you. It is still possible to make your poster or sign stand out by using a few smart techniques.
1. Take a look at your font size
Since your reader will be passing by your outdoor ad, not usually stopped in front, the font on your banner or poster should be easily read at anywhere from 50 to 300ft, depending on the location. The font style should be crisp and clean. The space between letters and lines should be adequate enough that they are not slurred together. Reading your ad should be possible almost immediately.
2. Consider the location
Is the wall on which your poster will hang right by the sidewalk, or is it set above the road? Is your banner at eye-level or at the top of a building? The distance of your ad from its audience should be taken into consideration before banner or poster printing. For an ad that will be closer up, you can use a few more words. For posters at a distance, use fewer, larger words.
3. Look at the surrounding area
The background of your ad should stand out from its surroundings. For instance, if you are posting on a bulletin board you should not use a light brown background on your poster. Signs with gray backgrounds will not stand out on a gray wall. A billboard with a light blue background will not get noticed as well on a bright, cloudless day. Make a distinction between your ad and its surroundings so that it easily catches the eye.
4. Use interesting images
The images on your posters or billboards will be seen long before the crowd reads the message. Billboard and poster printing gives you the freedom to be creative. Animals, scenery, or one of your products could be used to grab attention. 3D graphics and shocking images are quite the advertising trend right now. You can even make your image hang over the edge of your billboard or poster for a captivating effect.
5. Use contrasting colors for your background and text
If your background is dark, make your text light. Light backgrounds should hold very dark text. You probably already know this, but something you may not consider is that some colors blend too closely to be put together – purple with yellow, or green with red, for instance.
Sign, banner, poster printing, and other outdoor ads give you the freedom to create a new impression every time you post a new one. Don’t hold back; use your best, creative ideas to wow your audience so that they will remember you later when they need your products or services.
